A wedding at Lehmhaus am Anger near Leipzig: celebrating in any weather
Jacqueline & Nico married at Lehmhaus am Anger near Leipzig: getting ready on site, an outdoor ceremony, rain, and a party that went ahead anyway.

Jacqueline and Nico got married at Lehmhaus am Anger near Leipzig in July. In the morning the sun was shining from a blue sky, and the outdoor ceremony in the courtyard had perfect weather. In the afternoon rain rolled in, and the party had to move indoors at short notice. They celebrated anyway, and properly. Above all, it was a deeply emotional day, with many wonderful speeches that truly moved the two of them.
The venue: Lehmhaus am Anger
Lehmhaus am Anger is in Radefeld, part of Schkeuditz just north of Leipzig. It's a lovingly restored four-sided farmstead, a former farm that's now a guesthouse and event barn. The Lehmhaus itself, the Old Barn, the ivy-covered former stable and the brick house stand around the courtyard.
The party happens in the Old Barn: raw brick walls, old wooden beams, wooden tables and a small lounge. It seats up to 64 guests. Lehmhaus is explicitly made for smaller weddings, for anyone who'd feel lost in a huge hall. Outdoor ceremonies take place in the courtyard, and in the barn if the weather turns.
What makes it special: you can stay right on site. Up to 35 guests can sleep in 13 guest rooms and holiday apartments. So getting ready can happen at the farm, and after the party it's only a few steps to bed.
Getting ready with a view of the courtyard
Jacqueline and Nico both got ready at Lehmhaus, each in their own room under the roof. As Jacqueline stepped into her dress, she was handed a letter from Nico, and that's when the first tears came. From her window she could look down into the courtyard and watch the guests arrive one by one. With every new face below, the excitement grew.
Outdoor ceremony in the courtyard
The ceremony took place in the middle of the courtyard, under a blue sky and the sun sail. Jacqueline's father walked her across the cobblestones, past the ivy-covered stable, to the front, where Nico was waiting at the dried flower arch, wiping tears from his eyes.
The ceremony was led by Karo of Original Liebe. One especially lovely moment was the ring warming: threaded on a cord, the rings travelled through every row, from guest to guest. Everyone could hold them once more and give the couple their wishes. At the end the rings reached Jacqueline and Nico, and they put them on each other. There was laughter, cheering and crying, and at the end the two of them walked back through their guests in a shower of petals.
Rain, the barn and a party that went ahead anyway
After the drinks reception and the cake from Konditorei Tortenträumerei, the rain arrived. Everyone moved into the barn for a while, which is exactly what it's there for. Later the rain cleared, and the party carried on outside in the courtyard.
Then came something nobody had seen coming: a group of guests marched across the courtyard in red jumpsuits and masks straight out of "Money Heist", with a performance prepared for the couple. After that it was time for the log. Sawing through a log is a German wedding tradition in which the couple shows they can master hard tasks together, and Jacqueline and Nico proved it to the cheers of their guests.
Furniture, tableware and decoration came from Perfect Moments, the flowers from Lovely Moments. The day was planned and coordinated by Lovebird Weddings.
Couple shoot on the meadow path
For a few quiet minutes together, we headed to a meadow path nearby. The sky was still grey from the rain, and that's exactly what gives these pictures their own mood.
Speeches, dancing and the photo bus
In the evening, things got emotional again in the barn. One speech followed the next, and many of them moved Jacqueline and Nico so much that the tissues didn't stay dry for long. Then the two of them opened the dance floor under the wagon wheel chandeliers.
Out in the courtyard, the LOVE letters glowed next to the photo bus at blue hour, and anyone stepping out for some fresh air could capture the next memory right there.
Tips for your wedding at Lehmhaus am Anger
- Get ready on site. Use the rooms and holiday apartments. You save yourselves the driving, and the anticipation of watching your guests arrive in the courtyard comes free.
- Put your guests up too. Up to 35 guests can stay at the farm. A brunch in the barn the next morning is possible.
- Plan for rain, don't fear it. The barn is the bad-weather option for both ceremony and party. For Jacqueline and Nico, that's exactly what worked.
- Made for smaller weddings. With room for up to 64 guests in the barn, nothing ever feels empty.
- Celebrate outdoors early. From 10 pm the volume outside has to drop noticeably out of consideration for the neighbours. So plan anything in the courtyard for the afternoon and early evening.
- Choose your own catering. You organise the food yourselves, so you can put together exactly the menu you want.
